Film education theme day on 23.09.2023

Something (is) moving. Film education is cultural education!

How do film education programs work in NRW? Where are they? And (why) do we need to talk about connections? Among each other, to schools, to politics, to our visitors and participants?

These questions are the starting point for the conference to which the Netzwerk Filmkultur NRW cordially invites you in the context of the Münster Film Festival:

When? September 23, 2023 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where? Studiobühne of the University of Münster, Domplatz 23, 48143 Münster.

Something is moving! Be it through the pilot program “Film Education and Cinema”, which has been putting more focus on film education at the state level since last year. Be it through the new law at the federal level, which grants every elementary school child a place in all-day care starting in 2026. And we, the NRW Film Culture Network, are on the move! Together with you, we would like to develop ideas on urgent topics in film education: How are we positioned in NRW – and how do we gain visibility? Where are there gaps, where are there good examples? And (why) do we need a conversation about connections? Connections to each other, to schools, to politics, to our visitors and participants?

The network conference aims to bring together actors from film education and film culture, from politics, administration, formal and non-formal education and all interested parties in an exchange and act as a platform for idea development and discourse.

For this…
… we provide an overview:
Through a film education market we look at the diverse scene and at various offers of film education in NRW.

… we will dive deeper:
An impulse lecture will lead us deeper into the history and classification of film education.

… we discuss like in a street café:
About the visibility of film education offers, about the merger of offers vs. the importance of local work, about participation structures and about the further education of professionals in film education.

… we talk about structures and new things:
In an open stage format, we discuss with you and representatives of the state of NRW, with experts from film education, film culture and mediation.

Participation is free of charge and catering will be provided.
